42 States Lost Jobs in August
Nearly all 50 states experienced increased unemployment in the month of August, up significantly from July. According to data from the Labor Department report, 42 states plus the District of Columbia lost more jobs than they gained last month with Texas, Michigan, Georgia, and Ohio taking the biggest hits.
Recently, some economic indicators have pointed towards the end of the recession, and Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke has been more optimistic, but unemployment levels continue to increase. All the while, the federal government continues to import more than 125,000 foreign workers every month. The unemployment rate for September stands at 9.7 percent, but most experts expect that number to exceed 10 percent before things get better.
Texas was the hardest hit last month, losing 62,200 jobs and seeing its unemployment rate hit 8 percent for the first time in 22 years.
Michigan, who's auto manufacturing industry has taken a heavy hit during the recession, shed another 42,900 jobs in August. The state's unemployment rate rose above 15 percent and is the highest in the nation. Georgia and Ohio also suffered high job losses, but their unemployment numbers dropped because many of the states' unemployed dropped out of the overall work force.
Only eight states saw job increases last month - North Carolina, South Dakota, New Jersey, Montana, and West Virginia - were among the gainers.

Germany – al Qaeda Releases New Video, Threatens ‘Bad Awakening’
Al Qaeda make a lot of threats, but don’t think for a moment that they are empty threats. Don’t forget…they are opportunistic in nature. When they have an opportunity they will take it. They have many cells, albeit small cells, throughout almost every country in the world, and they will take advantage of attacking anyone who gives them the opportunity. As far as we, in the U.S. are concerned, they are only waiting for a specific opportunity to present itself. Eternal Vigilance is something we must have to keep our country safe. All the men and women who are working around the clock, to make sure we don’t give them the opportunity to strike, are the only reason we have remained safe, in our homes and in our lives. We owe a debt of gratitude to each and everyone who has the courage to fight this insidious enemy. Thank you for your dedication, and devotion, to America. ...

Mitchell to Meet Bibi, Abbas, Bibi
by Maayana Miskin
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with United States envoy George Mitchell on Friday for the third time in four days. The two plan to meet again later in the day, after Mitchell meets with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
While Mitchell meets with Abbas, Netanyahu was expected to gather his seven closest ministers (the "Forum of Seven") to discuss Israel's next steps, and the concessions he is willing to offer in order to restart the diplomatic process.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak has pushed for Israel to make concessions for the sake of restarting talks. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe Yaalon have expressed doubt over the potential for productive talks with the PA in view of recent developments, among them the Fatah conference in which Abbas's party restated its support for terrorism and its refusal to compromise on several key issues.
However, instead of meeting with his ministers, Netanyahu visited Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the spiritual leader of Shas. He presented the rabbi with possible agreements regarding Jewish building in Judea and Samaria.
The U.S. is hoping to convince Israeli and PA leaders to meet next week with President Barack Obama during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Abbas has refused to meet with Netanyahu without a complete building freeze in Judea, Samaria, and much of Jerusalem.
Netanyahu has stated that he will not freeze construction in any part of Jerusalem, or order a complete building freeze in Judea and Samaria. “To me, a building freeze means no construction of new housing... new public structures will continue to be built,” Netanyahu said Thursday.
"It's important to promote peace, but we also have responsibilities to the citizens of Israel and to our brothers in Judea and Samaria, who must be allowed to live a normal life,” he stated.
Israel has set no preconditions to talks with the PA, he added. “The Palestinians must go through a tough process, Abu Mazen [Abbas] must decide whether he is Arafat or Sadat,” he concluded.
While Netanyahu has not yet scheduled a meeting with Abbas, the prime minister is scheduled to fly to New York on Wednesday of next week. He is expected to travel along with Lieberman and Barak.

Obama inspires Islamists' D.C. prayer rally Shariah experts to proclaim 'Our Day has Come'
(Analyst's note: Very troubling at best.)
Muslims who are working to stage the "Our Day Has Come" day of prayer at the U.S. Capitol have discussed views that include an Islamic takeover of the White House, from where they say President Barack Obama is providing their inspiration.
Building on the Islamic interest in Obama's inauguration, when Muslims claimed in a magazine that "It's our time," the event planners are calling for 50,000 Muslims to attend the 4 a.m. event on the National Mall on Sept. 25
The organizer is Hassen Abdellah, who leads a Elizabeth, N.J., mosque, and two special guests for the event, according to the website, will be Sheik Muhammad Jebril and Sheik Ahmed Dewidar.
According to the website, Jebril's degree is in Islamic Law and he learned the Quran by the age of 9.
According to blogger Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs, Jebril specializes in Shariah law and served as the imam of an extremist mosque in Cairo starting in 1988. ....
Atmosphere for spies called 'vile' Turbulence attributed to possible prosecution of intel agent
excerpted from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin
LONDON – Spies in the MI6 agency in Great Britain are infuriated that their chief, Sir John Scarlett, has handed over one of his veteran agents to Scotland Yard's Anti-terrorist Command on allegations he collaborated with the CIA in torture at a secret center in Morocco, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.
While the long-serving officer is known to have a reputation for harsh interrogation methods, Scarlett's unprecedented action has rocked the Secret Intelligence Service's staff of 2,500. The atmosphere within its London headquarter is described as "vile."
It has emerged that Scarlett only told a few of his top staff that he wanted the officer handed over to the Yard after he had interviewed him.
The officer is believed to be an Arab linguist. He is currently on "gardening leave" – ordered to stay at home. ....
Sunstein: Obama, not courts, should interpret law 'Beliefs and commitments' of nation's leader should supersede judges
By Aaron Klein
The interpretation of federal law should be made not by judges but by the beliefs and commitments of the U.S. president and those around him, according to President Obama's newly confirmed regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein. ....
.... This statement was the central thesis of Sunstein's 2006 Yale Law School paper, "Beyond Marbury: The Executive's Power to Say What the Law Is." The paper, in which he argues the president and his advisers should be the ones to interpret federal laws, was obtained and reviewed by WND.
Sunstein debated the precedent-setting 1803 case, Marbury v. Madison, which determined it is "emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department to say what the law is."
He lamented multiple recent examples of U.S. presidents interpreting law only to have their interpretations overturned by the Supreme Court. ....
Unearthed! Obama's twisted ACORN roots Track timeline of president's ties to group immersed in scandals
(Analyst's note: The dots are beginning to be connected in what is a tangled web. Absolutely must read.)
By Chelsea Schilling
ACORN (photo: Dickinson College) |
While ACORN remains riddled in scandal, lawmakers have voted to cut off federal funding to the group, the U.S. Census Bureau has severed ties to the organization – and the White House has blasted its behavior as "unacceptable."
But just how extensive are President Obama's personal ties to ACORN?
The following is a timeline outlining some of the purported connections between the president and ACORN through the years:
1990s: Obama meets ACORN
ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, first noticed Obama when he was organizing on the far south side of the city with the Developing Communities Project. A March 2, 2008, Los Angeles Times article by Letta Tayler and Keith Herbert, titled "Obama Forged Path As Chicago Community Organizer," explored Obama's pre-law school days as a community organizer in Chicago and his efforts to build a partnership with Chicago's "Friends of the Parks."
"Obama's task was to help far South Side residents press for improvement," the Times article explained.
National Review Online noted, "Part of Obama's work, it would appear, was to organize demonstrations, much in the mold of radical groups like ACORN."
The Times article reveals that Madeleine Talbot, who at the time was a leader at Chicago ACORN, was thoroughly impressed with Obama because "he got people to vote with their feet."
"At the time, Talbot worked at the social action group ACORN and initially considered Obama a competitor," the article stated. "But she became so impressed with his work that she invited him to help train her staff."
Talbott personally led Chicago ACORN's campaign to intimidate banks into making high-risk loans to low-credit customers, Stanley Kurtz reported.
"Long the director of Chicago ACORN, Talbott is a specialist in 'direct action' – organizers' term for their militant tactics of intimidation and disruption," Kurtz writes. "Perhaps her most famous stunt was leading a group of ACORN protesters breaking into a meeting of the Chicago City Council to push for a 'living wage' law, shouting in defiance as she was arrested for mob action and disorderly conduct. But her real legacy may be her drive to push banks into making risky mortgage loans."
