U.S. Army microbiologist Bruce Ivins last year wrote in an e-mail to himself saying that he had identified the perpetrator of the 2001 anthrax mailings for which he was being investigated as the sole suspect, according to an affidavit made public yesterday (see GSN, Sept. 24).
The affidavit states that Ivins pointed FBI agents to other researchers who might have carried out the attacks after he learned that anthrax spores in the mailings had been genetically linked to a supply he controlled at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at
