Last week I received an email from someone asking why the FBI and DHS aren’t using data-mining more extensively to look for activities that might preclude an act of terrorism. They apparently are, and while I understand the privacy concerns, given last weeks events it’s probably a good thing. It sounds cliche, but if you’re not doing anything wrong, you probably don’t have much to worry about.

A fast-growing FBI data-mining system billed as a tool for hunting terrorists is being used in hacker and domestic criminal investigations, and now contains tens of thousands of records from private corporate databases, including car-rental companies, large hotel chains and at least one national department store, declassified documents obtained by Wired.com show.
Headquartered in Crystal City, Virginia, just outside Washington, the FBI’s National Security Branch Analysis Center (NSAC) maintains a hodgepodge of data sets packed with more than 1.5 billion government and private-sector records about citizens and foreigners, the documents show, bringing the government closer than ever to implementing the “Total Information Awareness” system first dreamed up by the Pentagon in the days following the Sept. 11 attacks.
Such a system, if successful, would correlate data from scores of different sources to automatically identify terrorists and other threats before they could strike. The FBI is seeking to quadruple the known staff of the program.
But the proposal has long been criticized by privacy groups as ineffective and invasive. Critics say the new documents show that the government is proceeding with the plan in private, and without sufficient oversight.
Michael Moore’s new film, “Capitalism: A Love Story” is garnering a lot of media attention and plenty of media praise. In his interviews he reveals his strategy to destroy capitalism and insert socialism. He uses techniques right out of the pages of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. He takes the resentment of the corruption and failures related to Wall Street this past year as a platform to push for radical change.
As Alinsky wrote, the organizer
“must first rub raw the resentments of the people; fan the latent hostilities to the point of overt expression. He must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them, for unless there is controversy people are not concerned enough to act.”
Moore takes this public anger at Wall Street corruption and jumps the shark to say that the culprit of this evil greed is capitalism itself. For Moore capitalism = greed. Here is one exchange he had on primetime television with Jay Leno:
LENO: Well, it’s interesting in the film. You say capitalism is evil. I think greed is evil, but I think capitalism is OK as long as you, I mean, moderation in all things. I mean, uh, explain.
MOORE: Yeah, well, capitalism, capitalism is actually legalized greed.
Michael Moore, like Alinsky taught, believes that the end goal is “the radicalization of the middle class”. To get to that goal the organizer must learn “to talk the language of those with whom one is trying to converse.” Use whatever language works and make sure it centers around morality. Moore has chosen two ways of doing that. Instead of calling for socialism by name, he calls for democracy. And to convince people of the morality of it, Moore manipulates the teachings of Jesus in a way that makes Jesus sound like a socialist (without using that word of course). So Moore’s plan of attack is to turn socialism into simply democracy and the values of Jesus.
Instead of Christianity being the enemy of the left — Alinsky understood that would turn people off as we see with Bill Maher’s work — Moore decides to pervert Christianity as a tool for socialistic propaganda. It’s been tried many times before, but not so often with film.

In this clip notice how he calls capitalism a system that is both “anti-democracy” and also something Jesus would not approve of. Moore says we aren’t a democracy, because we can vote. We are only a democracy and a Judeo-Christian nation if “we come up with a new economic order that is fair”. Of course, all this is a coded and homogenized way of slipping in socialism.

Notice on left-wing Olbermann he drops almost all pretense that he cares so much about democracy or Christianity (because the regular middle-class that he wishes to radicalize doesn’t watch Olbermann). It’s all anti-Reagan, anti-Bush, anti-Republican, and anti-conservative courts. He even says at the end of the interview that the goal is to see the “people revolting”!
Back on Leno, Moore was talking about democracy and morality:
MOORE: No, not right. It’s wrong. Some things are just wrong. And this capitalist economic system that we have, it might have been right at one point, it’s not right now. And I don’t think we’re ever gonna put the genie back in the bottle. So we need to come up with something new to replace it. And I’m not talking about… This isn’t a debate between capitalism versus socialism.
LENO: Right.
MOORE: I’m actually suggesting go back to our roots of this country, democracy. What if we had an economy that you and I had a say in? Right now, we all don’t have much of a say in this economy. What if we applied our democratic principles and said, ‘We, the people, have a right to determine how this economy is run.’
Leftist magazine The Nation (which has often been a proponent of communism) treats the interview on Leno as one of the greatest moments in television history. They claim if you missed that interview you “missed one of those rare moments when the vast wasteland gives way to an oasis of realism.”
Friday on The View, while talking to middle America once again, Michael Moore actually paraphrased the teachings of Jesus multiple times to help make his case for socialism by another name. He has relabeled an old (and false) economic system to look new. How did he come up with it? Does he have a degree in either economics or seminary? No, Moore was a college drop out with no experience with economics, and his only seminary experience was to join a Catholic Seminary after 8th grade. “He admired the Berrigan brothers [radical anti-Vietnam War Catholic priests Daniel Berrigan and Philip Berrigan] and thought that the priesthood was the way to effect social change,” wroteThe New Yorker’s Larissa MacFarquhar in February 2004. “This resolve lasted only through his first year, though, after the Detroit Tigers made it to the World Series for the first time in Moore’s life and the seminary wouldn’t allow him to watch the games.”
Moore offers old wine in new wineskins. There is nothing new in his attack on capitalism and perversion of New Testament scripture to support socialism. It’s been done for decades. Leftists, communists, socialists, and radicals have attempted to use Jesus as a god of their own socialist image. The only thing new is that Moore is using film and popular television interview shows to push his drivel, and he is attaching it to a concept of “democracy” that sounds like good old fashioned socialism.
I would suggest anyone that starts to fall for Moore’s tactics read Poverty and Wealth: Why Socialism Doesn’t Work. In that book, philosophy and theology professor Ronald Nash breaks down all the false arguments of socialism being the economic system of Jesus and the New Testament. He writes,
“Unfortunately, many Christians act as though the only thing that counts is intention. But when good intentions are not wedded to sound theory, especially sound economic theory, good intentions can result in actions that produce consequences directly opposite to those we planned. This is precisely what has happened in the case of the social policies to help the poor adopted in the United States since 1965.”
Nash reveals in his books that people attempting to use Christ for leftist economics have no understanding of basic economics and “use the Bible as a weapon against capitalism.” Some use it to push for a very liberal Democrat form of government, while others “use the Bible to show that God is a Marxist.” And the result has been that such policies meant to help the poor have actually kept them in poverty. Moore, for example, in his interviews uses the idea that our economy is a fixed pie. And the rich take 9 slices and only leave us one. He thinks that isn’t fair. He has a false understanding of free enterprise. In capitalism, that pie exists because of bold free marketeers. And the pie size is not fixed. In fact, the better the entrepreneurs do in creating wealth, the bigger the pie gets for everyone. Moore would rather the government steal the whole pie and then hand it out evenly until there is no more pie left.
Jesus did condemn making wealth your God. And many of the problems we saw in the economy this past year stem from that very problem. However, it is error to then make a jump that Jesus condemned all wealth. He never did. Jesus had great friends and followers who were wealthy (Luke 14:1). He stayed and ate with wealthy people (Luke 11:37). He even was buried in the tomb of a rich man.
Jesus also used parables that told his feelings on wealth. Many of them centered on the call for Christians to use their privately owned wealth as stewards for good things (Luke 12 and 16). He at no times suggests that we give our private wealth to the government, so that they can redistribute it. To make that conclusion from the New Testament is a misrepresentation at best, and in the case of Moore, plain old manipulation.
Moore, we know your strategy. We are calling you out. Instead of making movies trying to convince us all to be radicals like you, why don’t you just share that $50 million plus personal empire you have with the poor of our society. Set an example instead of shoving propaganda.

JERUSALEM – Did President Obama yesterday adopt U.N. and Palestinian phraseology while calling on Israel to give up the biblical West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem, including the Temple
Mount? Some members of the Israeli government here reacted angrily to Obama's strongly worded demand – expressed during his speech to the U.N. General Assembly – for the creation of a "viable, independent Palestinian state with contiguous territory that ends the occupation that began in 1967."
The term "occupation" routinely is used by the Palestinians as well as some countries hostile to the Jewish state in reference to Israel's presence in the West Bank and Jerusalem. It is unusual for U.S. presidents to use the term, although Jimmy Carter once famously called Israel's presence in the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem "illegal."
"Occupation that began in 1967" is a specific reference to the lands Israel retained after the Six Day War of that year, particularly the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount.
The Palestinians never maintained any official capacity in either territory, lands in which Jews have been present for thousands of years. The territories came under Jordanian rule from 1948 until Israel captured them in 1967 after Jordan's King Hussein ignored Israeli pleas for his country to stay out of the Six Day War. Most countries rejected Jordan's initial claim on the area, which it formally renounced in 1988.
Commenting on Obama's speech during a WND interview today, Tzipi Hotovely, a Knesset member for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, accused the U.S. president of "misrepresenting history."
"Obama is misrepresenting Mideast history," she said. "The Jewish people's right to live in Judea and Samaria is firstly rooted in the Bible and God's promise 2,000 years before 1967."
"I really believe the whole 16-year process since the Oslo Accords (in which Israel gave up land in exchange for promises of peace) has proven the settlements are not the obstacle for peace. The main obstacle is the Palestinians' continued rejection of Israel as a Jewish state even within the borders of 1967."

Since the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama has maintained his determination to engage in direct negotiations with Iran over the Iranian nuclear
program. A meeting between Iran and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council – the U.S., Britain, France, China and Russia – plus Germany is scheduled for Oct. 1 in Geneva.
The success of that meeting is now called into question by the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency's announcement today confirming the existence of Iran's new enrichment plant after receiving a letter from Iran Monday that confirmed the facility's existence.
U.S. officials in Washington said Western governments have been aware of Iran's second enrichment plant for some time and decided to reveal their intelligence assessmentswhen the Iranians realized the plant's secrecy was compromised, BBC News reported.

Last month, the Cuban state-run toilet paper company, Cimex, announced that it is unable to supply adequate toilet paper to the nation until at least December 2009. Budget cuts slashed imports and Cuba has a shortage of raw materials to manufacture enough toilet paper to meet demand. Therefore:
"Until more supplies are produced, citizens are encouraged to conserve toilet paper by tearing off fewer squares, switching from two-ply to one-ply or using cigar wrappers."
It's assumed that the guidance referring to cigar wrappers applies to specifically-grown, broad tobacco leaves as opposed to the actual people who wrap cigars.
Notably, the Cuban broadleaf tobacco is considered by many to be the world's finest so individuals using it as a toilet paper substitute can bask in the knowledge that they are wiping with the very best.
Meanwhile, people who arguably do wipe with the very best, Americans, are being criticized for using plush three-ply toilet paper. Americans prefer and seek softness in toilet tissue and environmentalists contend that old-growth forests are being destroyed because of the preference.
"The reason, they say, is that plush U.S. toilet paper is usually made by chopping down and grinding up trees that were decades or even a century old. They want Americans, like Europeans, to wipe with tissue made from recycled paper goods."
Consequently, the challenge for environmentalists is to convince the American public to adopt a cult-like, save-the-planet mentality and welcome scratchiness in toilet tissue -- or -- get a law passed. Nevertheless, the toilet paper situations in Cuba and in the U.S. have at least one thing in common -- an underlying utopian philosophy. In Cuba, it's Marxist utopianism where everyone shares in the sacrifice, except for those who do the divvying, of course. In the U.S., it's environmentalist utopianism where everyone shares in the sacrifice, also except for those who do the divvying.
In conclusion, one result of utopianism in Cuba is the people being told to wipe their behinds with leaves, just like the Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon did, and it could be argued that the environmentalists would be happy if the same thing happened in the U.S. (More ....)

Security and intelligence experts are deeply worried by a new development in suicide bombing, the BBC has learned.
It has emerged that an al-Qaeda bomber who died last month while trying to blow up a Saudi prince in Jeddah had hidden the explosives inside his body.
Only the attacker died, but it is feared that the new development could be copied by others.
Experts say it could have implications for airport security, rendering traditional metal detectors "useless".
Last month's bombing left people wondering how one of the most wanted al-Qaeda operatives in Saudi Arabia could get so close to the prince in charge of counter-terrorism that he was able to blow himself up in the same room.
Western forensic investigators think they have the answer, and it is worrying them profoundly.
The explosives, they believe, were detonated by mobile phone.

Peter Neuman of Kings College London says the case will be studied intensively, and that there are "tremendous implications for airport security with the potential of making it even more complicated to get on to your plane".
"If it really is true that the metal detectors couldn't detect this person's hidden explosive device, that would mean that the metal detectors as they currently exist in airports are pretty much useless," he said.
The bomber was a Saudi al-Qaeda fugitive who said he wanted to give himself up to the prince in person.
The prince took him at his word and gave him safe passage to his palace.
But there, once he got next to his target, the bomb inside him was detonated.
Miraculously the prince survived with minor injuries, but footage emerging this week shows a sizeable crater in the concrete floor and the bomber's body blown in half.
It is believed the force of the blast went downwards which is why only the bomber died.

The FBI and The Orange County Sheriffs Department are investigating two cases involving a suspicious white powder. In one of the incidents, two women were hospitalized with breathing problems after coming in contact with the substance. The women apparently came in contact with the powder when they found it inside a car.

According to friends, the people inside the house moved out a couple of weeks ago because they were so ill. Then Saturday, deputies say two women became ill from a white powdery substance found in their car off Hondo way.

The Self Storage Association (SSA), in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) this week formally alerted its 6,000 member companies, its affiliated state associations and their thousands of member companies and thousands of individual facility managers of the potential for illegal use of self storage units in connection with terrorism.
These alerts were disseminated nationally and posted on the SSA member-only web site in the wake of recent arrests in Colorado and New York.
Investigators believe that alleged (jihadist) terrorists could store illegal materials or assemble them in self storage rental units as part of a domestic terrorism plot. Authorities have requested that anyone suspecting terrorist, suspicious or illegal activity contact the Joint Terrorism Task Force in their area, the FBI, and/or local law enforcement authorities immediately.
The SSA has participated on the DHS Commercial Facilities Subsector Coordinating Council of the Infrastructure Protection Task Force, along with leaders from other real estate and commercial facility industries that may also be potential terrorism targets or otherwise be in a position to recognize and thwart suspicious activity.
For too long we as Americans have been complacent to believe that the threat of homegrown jihad terrorism is gravest elsewhere, but looking at recent events, one can easily see that the threat here is growing and it’s time to take it seriously.

The Department of Justice Saturday evening announced that two detainees had been transferred from Guantanamo Bay to Ireland, and one had been transferred to Yemen.
There are more than 220 detainees remaining at the prison. In the last couple months, the White House has made it increasingly clear that the President will not make his self-stated January 22, 2010 deadline to close to prison. Alla Ali Bin Ali Ahmed, a native of Yemen, was captured in Pakistan in 2002 and returned to Yemen today.
Known at Gitmo as Captive 692, the government labeled Ali Ahmed an "enemy combatant," saying he "was associated with Al-Qaeda. He was present on the front lines in Bagram, Afghanistan. He was identified by a senior Al-Qaeda facilitator as having been a resident at a safehouse in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2000 (his individual also saw the detainee at a safehouse located in Faisalabad, Pakistan in February 2002 with a group of Yemenis who had fled Afghanistan). Finally, the Detainee was identified by another individual, a senior Al-Qaeda operational planner, as having resided at a safehouse located in Kandahar in 2001."...

President Barack Obama stated in Cairo, Egypt, June 4, 2009: "When the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the … Holy Quran."
The dilemma is: How can one swear to defend something upon a book that promotes the opposite?
The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion, yet the Quran states in Sura 4:89, "Those who reject Islam must be killed. If they turn back (from Islam), take hold of them and kill them wherever you find them."
In Hadith Sahih al-Bukhari (Vol. 9, Book 84, No. 57), Muhammad said: "Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him."
Islamic law relegates non-Muslims to "dhimmi" status, where they are not to propagate their customs amongst Muslims and cannot display a Cross or a Star of David.
The First Amendment states Congress shall not abridge "the freedom of speech," yet Islamic law enforces dhimmi status on non-Muslims, prohibiting them from observing their religious practices publicly, raising their voices during prayer or ringing church bells.
The First Amendment states Congress cannot take away "the right of the people to peaceably assemble," yet Islamic law states non-Muslims cannot build any new places of worship or repair any old places Muslims have destroyed; they must allow Muslims to participate in their private meetings; they cannot bring their dead near the graveyards of Muslims or mourn their dead loudly.
The Second Amendment states, "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed," yet Islamic law states non-Muslims cannot possess arms, swords or weapons of any kind.
The Third Amendment states one cannot be forced to "quarter" someone in their house,yet Islamic law states non-Muslims must entertain and feed for three days any Muslim who wants to stay in their home, and for a longer period if the Muslim falls ill – and they cannot prevent Muslim travelers from staying in their places of worship.
The Fourth Amendment guarantees "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures,"yet Islamic law states if a non-Muslim rides on a horse with a saddle and bridle, the horse can be taken away.
The Fifth Amendment states that "no person shall be held to answer for a capital or otherwise infamous crime … without due process of law," yet Muhammad said, "No Muslim should be killed for killing a Kafir (infidel)" (Hadith Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 9, No. 50).
The Sixth Amendment guarantees a "public trial by an impartial jury" and the Seventh Amendment states "the right of trial by jury shall be preserved," yet Islamic law does not give non-Muslims equal legal standing with Muslims, even prohibiting a non-Muslim from testifying in court against a Muslim.
The Eighth Amendment states there shall be no "cruel and unusual punishments inflicted," yet the Quran states: "Cut off the hands of thieves, whether they are male or female, as punishment for what they have done – a deterrent from Allah" (Sura 5:38).
A raped woman is punished:
"The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication – flog each of them with a hundred stripes" (Sura 24:2).
Women can be beaten:
"If you experience rebellion from the women, you shall first talk to them, then (you may use negative incentives like) deserting them in bed, then you may (as a last alternative) beat them (Sura 4:34).
Honor killings of wives and daughters who have embarrassed their families have been reported by the United Nations in Muslim populations of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen and increasing in Western nations.
The 13th Amendment states there shall be no "slavery or involuntary servitude," yet the Quran accommodates slavery as Muhammad owned slaves.
The 14th Amendmentguarantees citizens "equal protection of the laws," yet the Quran does not consider Jews, Christians and other non-Muslims as equal to Muslims before the law. Referring to Jews as "the People of the Book," Muhammad said: "They are those whom Allah has cursed; who have been under his wrath; some of whom were turned into apes and swine" (Sura 5:60, 7:166, 2:65).
The 15th Amendment guarantees "the right of the citizens … to vote shall not be denied … on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude," yet the fundamentalist interpretation of Islamic law does not allow voting, as democracy is considered people setting themselves in the place of Allah by making their own laws.
The 16th Amendment has some similarities with Islamic law, as "Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes from whatever source derived." Muhammad said, "Fight those who believe not in Allah … until they pay the jizya [tax] with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued" (Sura 9:29).
The 18th Amendment has some similarities with Islamic law, as "the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors … for beverage
purposes is hereby prohibited."
The 19th Amendment allows women to vote, yet in strict Islamic countries women cannot vote.
The 21st Amendment allows for the sale of liquor, yet Islamic law prohibits non-Muslims from selling or drinking wine and liquor openly.
One would assume that to swear upon a book implies believing what is in that book.
As Muhammad was not just a religious leader, but also a political and military leader, Islam is not just a religious system, but also a political and military system.
Since no one has the authority to demand Muslims worldwide cease imitating the political/military example of Muhammad, when Muslims bow in prayer they are also pledging political/military allegiance to Mecca.
Swearing to defend the U.S. Constitution upon a Quran that promotes different values is a dilemma worthy of a presidential explanation.

To recap, this week alone we have news of four separate plots by Islamic extremists to commit acts of terrorism against Americans either on U.S. soil or abroad. It was also revealed that a fifth previously disclosed plot had a domestic target in mind. Altogether, five people were indicted this week within the U.S. on terrorism-related charges. Five more were arrested.

Ten new terror training camps have been opened inside Pakistan since the November 2008 terror assault in Mumbai, India, which was launched from Pakistani soil.
The ten additional camps raises the number to 62, according to Indian intelligence agencies. The report, which was first noted in the Hindustan Times, was confirmed by US intelligence officials contacted by The Long War Journal.
P. Chidambaram, Indian's Home Minister, "shared details of the camps, along with maps and intercepts of conversations between terrorists and their Pakistani handlers, with the US government" during a visit to the US in early September.
The number of jihadi camps used to target India has fluctuated over the years. In 2005, it was estimated that there were 55 jihadi camps in Kashmir and Pakistan, but 15 were thought to have been wiped out during a deadly earthquake that struck Muzafarrabad and the surrounding areas in Pakistan-held Kashmir.
The 62 camps tallied by India's Multi-Agency Centre, the country's national intelligence coordination agency, are the ones that are directly aimed at India and India-held Kashmir, a senior US intelligence official told The Long War Journal.
"These are the camps that are set up to specifically churn out fighters assigned to strike in Kashmir and India," the official said. The official warned that narrowing viewing the camps as being used to training fighters for India or Afghanistan is a flawed way to look at the issue, as there is a wide amount of cooperation between the groups.
"The Indian number doesn't include camps in the NWFP [Northwest Frontier Province], FATA [the Federally Administer Tribal Areas, Baluchistan, and in Punjab that are tasked with aiding the Taliban in Afghanistan and in Pakistan's tribal areas."
The exact number of terror camps is not publically available. Last summer, US intelligence officials told The Long War Journal that there were 157 al Qaeda and Taliban camps in Pakistan's tribal agencies and the Northwest Frontier Province. The number of camps in Baluchistan and Punjab has not been disclosed.
But a recent report in Newsline provided a disturbing glimpse into the extent of the jihadi network in South Punjab. The region is dotted with more than 3,000 madrassa, or religious schools, with many of them used to radicalize students and recruit fighters. The region is fertile recruiting grounds for the Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (the radical offshoot of the Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan), Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Lashkar-e-Taiba. These groups have struck alliances with al Qaeda and the Taliban.
According to the report, the Bahawalpur division, a region in South Punjab, "could boast of approximately 15,000-20,000 trained militants." An estimated 5,000 to 9,000 young men from South Punjab are thought to be fighting in Afghanistan and in Pakistan’s tribal areas.
The Quetta Shura, the governing body for Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar, is based in the capital of Pakistan's Baluchistan province, while scores of camps are known to operate in the province. The border city of Chaman serves as a forward command post for the Afghan Taliban and the Quetta Shura.

On “The O’Reilly Factor” on Wednesday night, Democrat Rep. Barney Frank dropped a bombshell about the ACORN scandal that has not been disputed by Congressional Republicans – the group received $14.2 million in funding from the Bush administration.
But the question of what the Federal Reserve is doing with trillions of taxpayer dollars makes the ACORN scandal look like peanuts.
For the first time, a hearing is being held on Rep. Ron Paul’s Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 (H.R. 1207) by the House Committee on Financial Services
. Grass-roots pressure has been credited with forcing the hearing into what has happened to trillions of dollars supposedly spent by the Federal Reserve on the stabilization of the financial system.
In prepared testimony, Thomas E. Woods, Jr. of the Ludwig von Mises Institute offers his strong support for the bill and declares, “…if our monetary system were really as strong, robust, and beyond criticism as its cheerleaders claim, why does it need to rely so heavily on public ignorance? How can it be a sound banking system that depends on keeping the public in the dark about the condition of its financial institutions?”
As the unprecedented hearing was taking shape, however, Rep. Frank put a statement on the website of the House Committee on Financial Services, which he chairs, going into detail about Republican funding of ACORN.
He declared, “ACORN was the recipient of funding throughout the Bush administration, with $14.2 million going from the Bush administration to ACORN through HUD. And I can attest that this was an entirely Executive Branch decision: No congressional action in any way, shape or form required that any of these funds go to ACORN as opposed to other organization [sic]. And I do not remember, during the period from 2001 to 2006 when the Republicans controlled the White House, HUD, the House and the Senate, and ACORN was receiving millions of dollars, any Republican objection to this.”
The ACORN scandal was exposed by the BigGovernment.com website, which is now urging donations to a legal defense fund for the filmmakers, who are being sued by ACORN.
Meanwhile, some conservative Catholic groups have been putting pressure on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), which gave ACORN $7.3 million over the last ten years, to de-fund other groups that engage in activities inconsistent with Catholic teaching.
Rob Gasper, the founder of Bellarmine Veritas Ministry, launched an investigation which found that the CCHD had funded groups advocating abortion or prostitution, or both.
As a result, on the insidecatholic.com website, prominent Catholic writer and thinker Deal W. Hudson has called for the elimination of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, saying, “No amount of house-cleaning is going to make this arm of the USCCB [United States Conference of Catholic Bishops] worthy of our donations.”
While the ACORN scandal involves tens of millions of taxpayer dollars and became a national scandal because of the BigGovernment.com videos, some other videos that examine what has happened to trillions of dollars involving the Federal Reserve have become increasingly popular. These videos, however, don’t involve undercover footage. Rather, they show Rep. Alan Grayson trying to pin down government officials at congressional hearings on what has happened to the missing money.
In an exchange captured in a a YouTube video, Grayson questioned Fed Vice Chair Donald Kohn about Federal Reserve officials distributing $1.2 trillion dollars since September 2008, without reporting where they lent the money. In another video, Grayson questioned Inspector General of the Federal Reserve Elizabeth Coleman about where the money has gone and whether anyone is overseeing the activities of the Federal Reserve.
While Grayson is a liberal Democrat, he decided to co-sponsor the bill sponsored by Republican Rep. Ron Paul, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, which requires an audit of the Federal Reserve System, including its Board of Governors, and the Federal Reserve banks.
Paul had announced on July 15th that all 178 Republican members of the House had signed on as co-sponsors of his Federal Reserve Transparency Act.
The House Committee on Financial Services’ hearing on the bill on September 25th also features testimony from Scott Alvarez, General Counsel, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and comes seven months after the bill was introduced and referred to the committee.
The bill currently has 295 co-sponsors, meaning that 117 Democrats have also endorsed the measure.
On the Senate side, a similar bill, S. 604, sponsored by Sen. Bernie Sanders, has 28 co-sponsors. It was referred to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs on March 16 but no hearings have been held on the Senate side.
Though introduced by a self-declared socialist, most of the Senate co-sponsors are Republicans, demonstrating that concern about the activities of the Federal Reserve crosses ideological lines.
The FBI is concerned that corrupt U.S. officials at the nation’s border crossings are placing Americans at risk. To combat the illegal activity, the Bureau is stepping up efforts to identify those involved. According to this report, some government officials have allowed anyone to cross the U.S. border for the right price. One of the primary concerns is obvious; terrorists or materials that could be used in a terrorist attack might also slip through.

“If you’re a corrupt border official, and you’re allowing illegal immigrants to come into the country, you’re not going to know who you’re letting in,” Kevin L. Perkins, assistant director of the Criminal Investigative Division for the FBI, told ABC News.
In one instance at the U.S.-Mexico border, FBI video surveillance obtained by ABC News caught a truck full of illegal immigrants pulling up to Customs and Border Protection officer Michael Gilliland, and being waved through his border inspection lane for $100,000, officials said.
And in Texas, an undercover FBI operation allegedly caught a deputy sheriff in the act.

He first uses the Arabic expression for "slaughter," "Nidbah-hom," and later on uses the word "Shaht."

With the prospect of Israel bombing Iran's nuclear facilities looming, Tehran has renewed its threat to shut down the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which up to 40 percent of the world's oil supplies pass, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.
The strait is a 112-mile-long, horseshoe-shaped, six-mile wide strategic water
passageway located between Iran to the north and the United Arab Emirates to the south. It is one of the world's most strategic – and vulnerable – shipping chokepoints.
Through it, two-fifths of the world's oil supply pass en route to consumers. On any given day, some 15 giant oil tankers reportedly carry 17 million barrels of oil.
While the threat from Iranian authorities isn't new, the fact that it could be blocked, even temporarily, comes at a bad time for the world economy in which a spike in energy prices, even for a short time, could have a detrimental impact. ....
